Take the first step and become a CAPPA Certified Childbirth Educator. In this training you will learn how to effectively create and implement curriculum. You will open so many doors for yourself and be able to offer classes in a variety of settings. This training is perfect for nurses, labor doulas, postpartum doulas, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, educators looking to change their focus, and anyone wanting to support families through this amazing time! 

 

CAPPA Certified Childbirth Educators and what we can offer: 

• Non-biased perinatal information, support, encouragement, guidance, referrals, and education to families
• Provide information on birth options and resources
• Encourage informed decision making 
• Model and teach effective communication
• Help families understand their rights according to current healthcare policy and legal statues
• Work closely with the birthing woman and her family as she explores her values and needs surrounding birth
• Provide the woman with non-medical comfort techniques for labor, such as positions and movement, comforting touch, visualization, breathing techniques, and affirmation
• Provide support to the birthing woman’s partner or family
• Provide culturally sensitive and adult based education
• Refer to healthcare professionals when support requires clinical assessment, a need for prescription, or medical diagnosis
• Seek to foster a cooperative, respectful, and positive atmosphere with the birth team.
